This study was a case presentation of the incidence of hypochondriasis with complications of depression and compulsive behaviour in a young adult. The patient C.U. was 21 years old, a secondary school student and a fourth child of the parents. Through assessment using interview, observation and psychological tests, he was diagnosed by the clinician as manifesting the symptoms mentioned above. C.U. was seen in intensive psychotherapy for 9 months using dynamic therapy, thought control, relaxation and psycho-education. At the end of the therapy sessions, C.U. showed marked reduction in his problems and was able to sit for his Senior West African Examination and General Certificate of Examination (GCE).
